Throughout these past years Ive learned the value in quality friends. And especially through the many moves and developing of new friendships i have discovered how precious these relationships are to me in my life. These people make the transition of moving to a completely foreign environment feel like home. The friendships that I have made while being so far away from family have caused me to lean on these relationships more than ever and have showed me that it takes time and effort to develop a real friendship.

My friends have served as fierce defenders, passionate cheerleaders, and often lifesavers. I've thought of the friends in my life I swore would be life-long friends and how many have faded into my past for many reasons, most just being life taking its course. Not because I don't care for them, but simply that our live have gone separate directions. I assume we have all had friends that were so involved in certain periods of our life that them not being there is unimaginable. But i think a large part of our friends are "situational friends". They fit into a particular stage or journey were experiencing during certain phases of life; mommy groups, work out buddy, college roomies, hometown friends, work associates… And then we evolve, we "grow up", we change. Some start families, some start businesses, some continue living in parents basement( not hating! :) We are constantly evolving along with the challenges and struggles that life brings leading us all down differing paths. The common grounds begin to fade and maintaining that connection requires more energy. Sometimes too much energy that it becomes a chore of enhaustion just to come up with conversation for an hour. Then there are relationships that fall to the way-side once realizing they arent personally enriching, they leave you feeling negatively and thats not a way I want to choose to live. Each friendship we have in life should leave us feeling better about life, and striving to be better. Friends arent forced into our life, we get to choose those we surround ourselves with. I cherish those friends that have made a positive mark in my life and whether or not we maintain contact regularly I love that we can pick up where we left off at any moment in time. True friends are to be cherished and i hope that I can be more of a friend that I want others to be towards me.

Like i have said in previous posts, I get on these kicks of posting almost on a daily basis to neglecting the blog for months. Well it was between neglect towards the blog or the baby.. you know who won. So much transition and life changing happenings have occurred within this short period; move to england, Joshua starting school at Oxford, AND most exciting of all our little bundle of happiness Jameson! We just love him and cant believe what a blessing he has been in our life. Pretty long post! : :)

It has been incredible living in such a historically packed city with so much character, i cant believe this is where we live most days and cant believe we are already a quarter of the way finished. The first few months here were somewhat difficult, Id be lying if i said everything was wonderful all the time. When arriving we had to find a place to live because finding renting space here over the internet was not easy so we thought it would be fine to just wait till we got here. Man is it expensive living, seriously insane! We thought it would just take a couple days, but ended up having to stay in a hotel for over a week, which of course adds up quickly with food and everything else. Poor Joshua had to spend his 30th birthday in the hotel.

After debating on location, size, too far from campus, not close enough to city centre we finally found a nice place in a great location. Its ended up being perfect for our little family!

The first month we were here the weather was absolutely perfect. One of the days we went punting with some friends and then had a picnic at University Park after. Couldnt have dreamed a better afternoon! : )

and a couple months later our little man entered the world! Jameson Joshua Barrett, 8lb. 10 oz. and not sure how many inches long. They dont measure length here..

My mom and little brother came out the same day JJ came into the world. We had so much fun while they were here, wish they were closer to take over baby duties again!

Settling in

We're down to the home-stretch of this pregnancy and im getting anxious for him to be here, to be able to get back into pre-pregnancy clothes, and hit the gym! I have never been a runner but after not being able to workout for awhile there is nothing that sounds better! At just about 39 weeks pregnant now Jameson is definitely making his presence known by his strong kicks, punches, and the lack of sleep that follows for me. I have heard that this is only preparation for the lack of sleep that will continue when he arrives so i guess i better just get used to it!

This last week we have been trying to get all the little things for him when he arrives and are starting to realize how much this stuff adds up, these little people aren't cheap! Especially where everything over here seems to be double than what it is in the states. Although, we are getting off scotch-free with the delivery! The NHS here covers everything and its been pretty awesome to just walk-in and walk-out without any bills. There are some down sides like last weekend Josh had been feeling pretty crappy so we finally decided to go to the hospital Sunday morning since the clinics were closed, 2.5 hour wait! On a sunday morning!? (He had a UTI, poor guy.)

Josh has really enjoyed this time as student and is really starting to revert back to his glory days of being able to participate in every extracurricular activity he can, until I remind him that he's married with a child on the way! Jk i told him to enjoy now while he can! He went ahead and tried out for the rugby and cricket teams within the university and actually made the Varsity team for cricket, which is the University team! I have to admit i was pretty surprised he made it!

Living here has been incredible, hard at times, but incredible. Walking on grounds that have been around for hundreds, even thousands of years, and being able to experience such amazing history has been something that Josh and I will forever treasure. Some of my favorite things about Oxford is the intimate cafes with crowded outdoor seating on sunny days, changing colors of the trees that line the small cobbled roads, and students in long dresses and cardigans riding bikes with wicker baskets filled with books. I love the classic, "old timey" feeling of this place and sometimes need the reminder of how lucky we are to have this opportunity. (photos to come!)

We were hoping and planning to be grooming our new place in Oxford, UK at this time but are STILL here! We sent our visas in 2 weeks ago, paid a butt load of extra money to ensure they would return by our flight booking date, but nothing. The worst part is that there is no way of contacting the British consulate to track the visas so we've just been twiddling our thumbs, with soo much to do but unable to until we get over there. I was starting to worry that this baby would come before we ever make it there..
Josh and i have been obsessive about checking our email for the confirmation email and we finally got it today! So, we are rebooking our flight for this coming Saturday, hurray!

With the extra time here weve been able to hangout with friends and family we haven't seen all summer, which has been a definite upside to all these frustrations of moving! I wish we could just pack everyone up in a suitcase, were going to miss yall so much but come visit!!

aubergine = eggplant

biscuit = similar to a cracker or cookie

The best thing to do to get acquainted with English, as spoken by the English is to watch as much British television before you arrive. BBC America has a myriad of different English shows and films so you can attune your ear.

-London is a massive city and the transport system is made up of trains, buses, the underground subway system and some of the river services. You might have to take one or more type of transport to get to work or into central London. Having an Oyster Card is the most convenient way of navigating all three without having to manage cash and tickets.

The recognizable blue Oyster Card is like a credit card for all of your transport around London. It can be loaded with money like a pre-paid card so you do not have to pay cash for any of your travels around London. Not only are you saving time by avoiding the long queues for tickets on the tube and train stations, it is also cheaper to use an Oyster Card.

The UK provides free healthcare for everyone. Just pop into your local doctor's surgery once you have found a permanent address, to fill out a registration form. One colleague advised that you need to do this shortly after arrival, as they were refused NHS care, having failed to register on arrival in Oxford. You don't need to take anything with you, although they will ask you for a brief medical history. For a list of local doctors try http://nwwtest.nhs.uk/England/Doctors/ If you have a college affiliation, colleges will help too.
Finding a dentist is more of a challenge. There are some dentists who offer care under the National Health Service, but this is still not free. You have to pay 60% of the charges, and may not be offered the same level of service as private patients. St John’s practice in St Johns Street (Ox 515967) was accepting new National Health patients until recently, though you have to be in the UK for more than 6 months to qualify. You can also pay as a private patient, or you can join an insurance scheme. Denplan is a popular one, or HSA offer an interesting scheme which pays back a portion of your dental charges, also physiotherapy and opticians fees for a year. Any dentist will have details.

Note: getting into Oxford city centre by car is a problem from 8-9am and out again from 5- 6pm. If you can cycle, take the bus or vary your hours of work to avoid rush hour, you do not have to limit yourself to city centre housing which can be very expensive.
Abingdon Road, Botley Road, Cowley Road, Iffley Road. There will be a lot of properties advertised near to these roads. They are four long main roads to the South and West of the city. Together with the smaller roads which branch off them, they provide rented accommodation for many thousands of students and many academics too. All offer easy access to the city, though with heavy traffic bikes are generally quicker than buses at peak times. Access to local shops, nurseries, parks etc varies enormously, so a visit/viewing is essential to give you an indication of local facilities.

St Clements is a small but very interesting area - as close to the city as you can get. It is at the city end of the Cowley Road and very popular/lively - lots of cafes and several lovely large parks for the children.

Temple Cowley is a busy area on a main route into Oxford. It is at the far end of East Oxford, one of the most popular areas for students and academics to live but is also (very) full of real people too!

Ive been pondering a lot recently about how I can better myself, I dont know if its the hormones or maybe moving hundreds of miles away from "home" in a few weeks, but i feel like im so much more easily offended or sensitive and I hate it. I have never wanted to be that person who feels like the victim and feel like i have spent alot of time sulking in self-pity. Whenever I feel down I like turning to lds.org for a 'lift me up'. I've found just spending 15 minutes watching one of the 'morman messages' or reading a talk by one of the general authorities always seems to lift my spirits and allows me to looks at things in a different perspective.

25 weeks

The weeks continue to pass and I cant believe how fast each one comes. We had the anatomic ultrasound last week and got to see how the baby was progressing, everything was normal, the circumference of his head was the only thing a little above average. No surprise there though! Josh and my brothers all have pretty big heads! He's weighing in at 1 lb. 8 oz and is a very active little guy, always moving and kicking. During the ultrasound we got to see him yawn, it was crazy to see him doing real human things, he isnt just a little alien! I have loved being pregnant and think the whole process is beautiful.

I got onto Yahoo this morning, as I do most mornings, to check my email. Before doing so I will often skim through the top stories and headlines on the homepage. I typically glance over them for a few seconds before going on but this particular title stuck out to me "Boys Selfless Act at MLB game", its not often that an act of kindness gets so much attention so i clicked on it and was so moved by such a small act and the bigger difference it made on the countenance of the boy who gave the act than the boy on the receiving end. I loved this video and it reminded me of how I need to be better about noticing the needs around me and being a little more kind.

I have literally been staring at my stomach for the last 10 minutes in shock and id be lying if i didn't say FEAR! He is seriously moving, like i can see him moving. I know Im 22 weeks pregnant now and should have the realization at this point that duh there is a baby living inside you but still every time he moves i have to lift my shirt and just watch in amazement… youre really in there! Are you comfortable in there? Are you healthy? Does he like those M&Ms I cant stop eating? This whole pregnancy thing really leaves me in awe everyday!

Recipe: Chicken Enchiladas

Im a sucker for most enchiladas recipes but this one is prob my favorite! Joshua couldnt stop talking about how much he loved them, so thought id share. I did everything the recipe called for, but i cut in half the amount of cream cheese and added a can of pimentos but i would only add if you like spicy. i love that she mixed the red and green sauce, the best of both worlds!

Creamy Chicken Enchilada Casserole
Serves 4-6
Ingredients:
4 chicken breasts (frozen or thawed)
1 can green enchilada sauce
1 can red enchilada sauce
1 lb. Monterey Jack Cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 bag frozen broccoli
1/2 bag frozen corn
1 garlic clove, chopped (or 1 teaspoon jar garlic)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (do not add if you don't like some spice)
1 tablespoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 brick cream cheese
12 flour tortillas
3 handfuls of tortilla chips (crushed)
Cilantro (for garnish)

I love this, although I know Coco would be extremely disappointed in my often. It reminded me of how wonderful the autobiographical movie of her life was. I may have done a post on this before, i cant remember( blaming it on the pregnancy!), but she deserves more than one post! If you haven't seen 'Coco Before Chanel' you have to watch it at least once. I made Joshua watch it with me after i had seen it and he was very surprised at how good it was. Its such an awesome story, the classic "rags to riches" tale. The entire movie is in French, so yes, you have to read and watch, but dont let this run you away!! It's worth watching, i absolutely adore audrey tautou! Is she not the cutest?

While living here in Houston I decided to get a PT job at Baby Gap to keep me from going stir crazy while Joshua is at work all summer. Im finding that I might as well just have them start a tab for me with each paycheck because almost before it reaches my hands I've found things to buy. Its just such a great deal, 50% OFF all full priced items at all gap stores and Banana Rep, 15% SALE. I figure I have to take advantage of it while it lasts, ill only be there till August 15, perfect timing to spend one of my pay checks on this new 'Mad Men' collection coming out August 10th! Isnt it cute? Perfect for the holidays, although im sure none of it will fit me by then, dang it.

Heres the growing tummy! Im just about 18 weeks now and so excited to find out whether or not this baby will be decked in pink and ruffles, or playing with bats and balls! Everyone asks if I have a preference and I always thought when this day came i totally would but i really dont , i think both would be so fun! Though i do think our bank account might dwindle if we add another girl into this duo. Both of us are just hoping for a healthy babe! We find out this coming Monday so we will keep ya updated.

We lived together in Austin while going to school and since then she's been one of the closest girls in my life. She's one of those friends where you may not talk everyday, or month, but when you get together its like you've never been apart. It seems like every baby blog ive read they have shown there babies toting these cloth diapers, not sure what i think about them, but I think they might be a great "eco-friendly" alternative. I know how many diapers new borns and toddlers go through and am wondering if these might be more cost effective? Although, the thought of having to wash and re-use poopy diapers kind of grosses me out.

I want to buy a baby puree blender, ive read great reviews about the "Babycook blender", anyone make there own baby food? Have experience with a blender that has worked or know of good ones?

This last week a friend was wearing one of those belly bands that Im thinking I will need to invest in in a few weeks. Do these help with comfort? Im not a fan of a lot of the prego clothes and hoping this will do the trick for my pants.

When we move to Oxford we wont have a car so I'm really wanting a quality stroller for walking and running. I like the way this one looks and it seems to be accessible and something that can fit into a closet.

Therapy

I love going to these places, even if for no reason at all but to make me feel better about my day. These are places that seem to give me an instant jolt of happy endorphins, its seriously therapy.

Not only is there produce the best, but the salad bar, soups, and pizza they sell are fantastic too.

Every time i walk in the place i fantasize about how my future home will be just like this store.

Josh hates going into this store for the very reason I absolutely love it, the smells. They use the 'Volcano' candles in the pretty royal blue case and i find them heavenly. The smell of the store merely sets the tone though, everything from the clothes&accessories, bedding, and kitchen items are so dang cute.

I dont think I own one thing from this place but sometimes I like to browse the store and I act like i can afford it... If youre like me and cant bring yourself to spending $40 on a sports bras, they offer something FREE! Thats right, when do you ever get anything free? Well, every Sunday they have yoga classes.

Gosh i really wish i didnt like this place so much, but its so good and way too close to where we live.. Im blaming it on the pregnancy!

Anxiously Awaiting

Josh was officially accepted into Oxfords SAID MBA Program and I couldnt be more thrilled or relieved for him! We have known we were going to be living in London either way because he was accepted into CASS which is in London, but knew that if Oxford became an option it would be a no-brainer. Looking at the history of Oxford makes me so anxious for the experience we will have out there. When i saw photos of the campus I actually said that it looked straight out of a Harry Potter movie, sure enough thats where all the movies were made! So fun!

Im pretty sure most people that read this know, but we are also expecting a little baby Barrett! I cant wait to find out the gender, I am 15 weeks now so in about 4 more weeks hopefully we can. Last April we found out I was pregnant but I knew something wasn't right, i guess you could call it "motherly instincts". A few days after I made an appointment to see a doctor, and after giving them my symptoms they had me stay for an ultrasound. When the ultrasound technician(?) proceeded to ask if i had been taking any infertility drugs I knew something was definitely wrong but was given no answers to my questions. I left the office feeling so overwhelmed and scared, of course Josh was already in Texas selling throughout everything. Later that day the doctor called me and i could tell he was concerned, again he asked if I had been taking any infertility drugs, of course i hadn't- we weren't even trying to get pregnant. He told me that it looked like a had something thats very rare called a Molar pregnancy and that i needed to come in for a DNC that next day. I was debating on sharing this because I hate feeling like im trying to get attention from other people because I know we all have our fair share of trials, but I remember researching this trying to find other people that had gone through this, and it was so reassuring to hear stories from other people that had gone through something similar and were still able to have children normally without any problem. Well, we didn't think getting pregnant would happen so quickly for us and are so thankful for the opportunity we will have to be parents, such a blessing!

We are so excited for this year and all the change that awaits are very near future. AND my sister in law is having a baby in just a few more weeks, cant wait for our babes to be best buds!

California dreamin'

My family has never been to California! This is so weird to me, especially since I have lived out there a couple times and Joshua and I feel like California is our home state with how often we've traveled there. Well this statement is finally no longer true for part of the family. My sister is a stud(i know i know, shut up about your sister already..) and so my mom had to take her out to Pepperdine and USD to look meet the coaches, they can only talk to her if she's on there campus because she's only a Sophomore.
just a little FYI- if you aren't aware of NCAA eligibility rules because jills is only a sophomore the coaches aren't allowed any one on one contact with her or the parents, but they can communicate with her if she visits the campus and can contact her recruiting coach and club coaches.

We had such a fun time and just wish we could have extended our stay a little longer. Much of our days were consumed with driving from one end of california to the other end. It was so fun to be able to relive the excitement that my mom and sister experienced while coming to California for the first time. I really hope she decides on one of these schools so we can come visit, hopefully in a couple years we will be back from London and living there! that would be suhweeet.

We have finally reached our destination! For those that don't know, Josh is selling alarms this summer with 'Vivent'. Well our plans have changed so many times that its hard to keep up! We left a few weeks ago for St. Louis excited to experience a new city and find out what the "gateway to the midwest" had to offer. The city was great and our apartment was right downtown across from the archway, shops, and many restaurants but after just over a week Josh decided that Houston would be a better choice( of course.. ; ) for our family and for the 7 guys working for him. It was bitter sweet, bitter only because we had to drive for another 15 hours to Houston after making the 20 hour trip from Utah a week before. I think its safe to say it will be a long while before I take another road trip! I have a lot going on in Texas this year; lil bros mission leave in June, the first Bergeson grand-baby in June, and 2 weddings so im glad I was able to bypass all the plane traveling. Oh and were moving to London in August for Joshua to attend grad school so it will be great to be around family and friends before we make the big move across the world.

So far we've loved living in North Houston, well i have, Joshua doesn't get to do much but work,work,work. The weather here has been gorgeous so my summer sales girls and I have been enjoying the pool, great shopping, and lots of amazing bbq and tex-mex, and were right across the street from the Houston temple where we got married. Were praying that this was the right choice for Josh and that he can have a successful summer out here! I have been hearing about snow and hail in Utah while im out laying by the pool, I dont miss it, not one bit.

For more exciting news, my lil sister got an offer from Pepperdine last weekend to play volleyball!! Were going out to visit Monday, I have heard the campus is incredible and im so excited for the wonderful opportunities that continue to flood her way. She is so talented and im so proud to be her big sister(and that i get to tag along on all these awesome trips!! )

Movie Reviews

I think every couple has there "thing" that they love to do whether that be running, hiking, eating, gaming.. (etc). Josh and i decided our thing is movies, but when you live somewhere as cold as Utah, what else are you supposed to spend the cold nights doing!?

Last night Josh and I snuggled on the couch to watch the well acclaimed 'The Kings Speech', (dont ask how we were able to watch the newly released movie in our home, my husbands tricky...). I knew 10 minutes into the movie I was going to love it! It had all the elements for the making of a great film; whitty commentary, inspiring true story, and a dream cast.

While we typically try to stay away from 'R' movies(especially on Sundays!) I heard from many reliable sources that this was a must see movie that didn't contain the violence and nudity that are typically most disturbing to me. There are a few F bombs but its not something that completely over takes the movies like some others I've seen.

I love that this movie is a true story! I had no idea until half way through which made me even more interested. 'KS' is based around the newly appointed King George, Queen Elizabeths father, in the midst of Hitlers occupation of Europe. The movie builds to the final speech when he is forced to announce the support of a declaration of war on Hitler.

Collin Firths performance is brilliant, along with all supporting actors! I recommend it. : )

By August Josh and I will be making some big decisions that were both pretty hesitant about, but super excited to see what awaits our very near future. Joshua applied to several different business programs across the country and thus far we could be moving to London or Oregon. They are both so different and will provide completely different opportunities so making the decision is so difficult. While London would be incredible and would allow josh to network with people internationally, it would be significantly more challenging financially and socially.

I've heard Eugene, OR is beautiful from several people and know this would allow me to work while joshua is attending school. Going to Oregon University Joshua would be studying for a Sports MBA with hopes of being able to work in Nikes Headquarters located just outside of Eugene.

So, come August we will either be in Oregon or London, which would you choose?

I go through these cycles of not posting anything for months, to blog overload. Josh is out of town for work this weekend and so I've been pretty lame/bored out of my mind. Your prob asking yourself why I dont get a job, my husband is in this business called summer sales, which forces us to relocate at the end of March. I graduated in December and then we planned our trip to Europe for January, so getting a job for 2 months isn't really an option.

Anyways- Im watching this right now:

I think its safe to say that number one our 'Bucket List' since we've been married has been to travel throughout Europe, AND our excuse for not having kids yet! WELL.. we havent .. Josh and I love traveling and experiencing new things together and have been fortunate enough to do a lot of that in our four years of marriage. From Hawaii(twice), to Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Playa Del Carmen, Disney Land, living in california(twice), New York x2, Philly, Seattle, Florida, San Fran, Vegas, and many trips throughout Texas. We've gotten around..

Our trip to Europe was fabulous! We decided on Paris, Spain, and Italy. Hitting every historical landmark within a three day span in each country was quite the feat and left us gasping for air and cutting deals with each other for massages each night (I work out often and have never felt so beat up!) The monuments, churches, and museums aren't something you can totally grasp unless you go, so GO! Everyone needs to visit at least once.

Nuts for Granola

I know, cheezy title but its the first thing that came to mind. I decided to start this cleanse that i wanted to do at the first of the New Year, but with our traveling adventures to Europe and Texas I knew that this would be even more impossible than expected. After stuffing my face with croissants from Paris, Tapas from Spain, and Pizza from Italy, AND all the Tex-Mex a girl could handle I was almost excited to force body to go on a health lockdown for a few weeks. And that's exactly what I did!

The 'Clean' Program is based off the book("Clean") written by Dr Alejandro Junger and essentially involves eliminating all dairy, pasta, red meat( you can have certain fishes, chicken, turkey) processed foods, and white sugar. Sounds extreme, i know, but I was actually surprised at how full and satisfied I was by the end of each day. The saving grace in this cleanse is that I could actually consume a SOLID meal each day, unlike most cleanses that only allow liquids( ie-lemon water and cayenne pepper diet...) throughout.
The cleanse is a little like this:
Breakfast-liquid : berry smoothie
Lunch- Meal : Grilled Chicken w/ quinoa
Dinner- liquid: Mango smoothie

Two liquid meals per day and one solid meal, mixing up the different fruits and meats allowed for each meal. The purpose of lunch being the meal time each day is to allow your body that 24 hour period to digest.

Come to find out- i love it, have never felt better, my skin has never been this clear, I have more sustained energy throughout the day, and I just feel happier! I feel like a walking advertisement for this cleanse, they really should hire me! But its hard not to constantly have it come up in conversation when it's such a lifestyle change. And while I sidestepped many of my vices to make this program work, I slipped up a few times (including spoonfuls of SubZero Cookies and cream and a brownie.. and a half). If your psychological dexterity is anything like mine and fails to deliver heaping amounts of discipline, just cut yourself a break and move forward. Your body will thank you in the end!Im half way through my third week and while Im not trying to lose weight, ive lost five pounds.

The granola thing applies now- I made these granola bars that are super good and good for you! Joshua actually loves them too. Heres the recipe and some pics to go along. I didnt follow the recipe exactly and substituted a lot of the ingredients for what I had around the house, you can pretty much add whatever you prefer. I made two batches, one with semi sweet chips and the other without.

2 cups oats
3/4 cup wheat germ( i used flax seed instead)
3/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup almonds
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey( used agave nectar)
4 Tbsp butter( 3 tbsp almond butter and 1 tbsp butter)
1/2 tsp Kosher salt (sunflowers were salted so took this out)
approximately 8 oz. dried fruit( cranberries, cherries, berries)
1/2 cup semi-sweet choco chips

put all the oats & nuts into cooking dish and roast for 10-12 minutes

place butter, almond butter, brown sugar, and honey into stovetop pan and allow to melt until it melts and resembles a caramel consistancy

Your nuts should be finished, mix nuts and add the "glue"(caramel mixture) in a large bowl making sure all the oats are covered

Using parchment paper to cover your baking dish( i used the same dish for the roasted nuts and just allowed it to cool under cool water while mixing glue and oats) spoon the granola mixture into the dish.

Press the parchment paper over the top to allow the granola to consolidate. Allow to sit for two hours before cutting into bars.

I decided to wrap mine for granola bars on the go, totally optional!

After a five month sabbatical from this blogosphere world, were making a come back! There has been so much that has happened over this entire summer; moving to Texas with APX, living with family (which could create its own blog), trips to California, Vegas, little brothers mission call, anniversaries, birthdays, last semester of school, new car(!!)... So much has happened that I'm a little intimidated of this thing. So, Im just going to pick up from our last trip to San Fran.

Oh, and I have felt extremely guilty stalking other blogs while not doing my part of updating my own, Amy Pearl called me out on this, ha! I would always get annoyed after updating my own and finding that none of my friends had updated theres. So, I'm finally going to cure myself from this guilt.

Josh sold alarm systems with APX in Houston over the summer, so we got to stay with my family all summer! It was so much fun.

And I turned 23 a week later!

During my fall break we decided to take a road trip with much hesitation on my part, (I'm not much of a road trip kind of girl), but decided that with an ipad to keep me entertained I might make it. We ended up having so much fun staying in Napa the first few days then heading over to San Fran for the next few days. On our way back I decided that driving actually wasnt all the bad!

With Joshua being out of my life quite regularly lately (summer sales) I've made many trips to the local 'REDBOX'. Don't you love this recent invention? So convenient and cheap, why didn't I think of it?!

This documentary starring Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, was fascinating. If you've seen 'The Devil Wears Prada' Wintour was the inspiration for Meryl Streep's role. I would recommend it.

While I'm a fan of SJP in 'sex in the city' and find Hugh Grant really funny in most of his films, I felt this movie was a total let-down. I was waiting for the funny part the entire film and eventually dragged myself to bad 30 minutes before it ended. Blah! Definitely failed to live up to my expectations.

Josh will be leaving me for Texas next week.. So, REDBOX here i come. I think this one looks promising, let me know if you've seen it and feel otherwise.

Home For The Holidays

Joshua and I were able to visit my family in Texas for the holidays this year and had a fantastic couple weeks. We ended up staying a bit longer than anticipated, it's always so hard to leave!

Our days were filled with Jillian and Shanes basketball games, endless football parades, and enough food to last the rest of the year(i'm still full!). It was great to be able to watch my little sis and brother play, I wish we were around more, but it makes us cherish the moments. Im so proud of them and how much they've accomplished and know they have great futures ahead.

Girls spa day at the Houstonian-Katelyn and I had the same massage therapist. Both of us walked out questioning whether or not she liked woman,her hands were going a little low when massaging the chest area.. kind of uncomfortable.

-I'm now going to indulge in bragging about my little sis, so feel free to divert your eyes.
My little sister is a freshman in HS this year and has surpassed goals and achievements most would hope for in four years. She made the varsity volleyball team and was honored with many accolades; 'Freshman of The Year'in the county, and "All-District." Basketball has just begun, and she again, made the varsity team. I didn't expect her to get much playing time considering how seniority typically weighs into everything. But, she's one of the starting five and hardly comes off the court.
Not only is she excellent on the court, she also shines in the classroom making National Honor Society every year.Its been fun to see her growing up (and I mean GROWING, she's 6'1!)and maturing into such an upstanding person. Plainly stated, shes pretty awesome.

I planned on writing something about my brothers as well but my times run-out and my political science class is over, so I will continue next week.
Anyways, we had a fantastic Christmas and New Years. I hope everyone had a safe one and HAPPY TwentyTen!

Food Review: Shoga Sushi

It’s not very often that I get a yearning for something that I am actually allergic to: shellfish. But ever so often (at least once a week to be more exact) I get the craving for raw fish rolled in seaweed and rice, adorned with various garnishes and sauces.

To simplify: I Need sushi. Even as my stomach is telling me that I am going to regret my decision, I head to my car and drive to my favorite sushi bar. It’s been just long enough for my head to forget the pounding and sweating; just enough time passed for my body to have forgotten the feeling of the cool porcelain and tile floor of the bathroom. I soldier on, not letting my intuition win the battle over my hunger cravings. Sushi: Here I come!

Hopefully my own personal health issues will not distract from the fact that the sushi of this particular restaurant, Shoga, is exquisite. The fish is always fresh and the variety of seafood rolls and dishes cannot be matched anywhere in Utah County.

Shoga is the place to go for fresh sushi without the crowd. After trying every sushi restaurant in the Valley my husband and I happen to stumble upon this place after hearing how highly recommended it came.

When you enter the restaurant there’s a young, contemporary vibe, and candlelit tables that create a relaxing ambiance. The hip restaurant is located right next to Outback Steakhouse, on the corner of University and State Street in Orem.

The seafood is the best I’ve had in the area. I have visited other sushi restaurants and the fish seems to taste several days old. Shoga serves a selection of different dishes from the Don-Buri noodle bowls, soups, salads, teriyaki meats, and of course a variety of sushi rolls.

I started with the house salad, which I expected to be the regular plain iceberg lettuce with the creamy, soy-ginger dressing. Instead, I was served a colorful array of lettuce greens, shaved carrots, with the perfect sweetness of mandarin oranges on top and a sweet ginger dressing. The salad is delicious and a great way to calm those hunger pains.

But the main attraction is the sushi, which is as good as any I’ve had. Shoga makes several specialty roles like the Playboy role, Black-Eye roll, and Mama Mia roll. My favorite roll is the ‘Playboy roll,’ for no underlying reasons. The playboy consists of shrimp tempura, cucumber and avocado, topped with tuna, spicy mayo, unagi sauce and tobiko. Each sushi roll is served with 6-8 rolls, we loved our sushi so much we ordered two more rolls.

The service was very prompt and friendly, and similar to Happy Sumo all the hosts and waiters were very attractive, a helpful tip for all you single fella’s. The cost is quite affordable, each roll is between $8-$13, but you will probably need more than one roll to satisfy your cravings. You might also want tempura veggies or miso soup, which if you order a meal comes complimentary.

It should be understood and emphasized that despite my allergic reactions from eating most seafood, I still choose to go and enjoy the sushi at Shoga. That’s how good it is! I don’t care that I may pass out later on in the day from some newfound violent illness in my body. I don’t care that my husband will be asking me if I am crazy with the look on his face of “I told you so,” It’s completely worth it!

For this brief moment I am in food heaven and in my personal food heaven, there is no such thing as a stomach ache unless it’s an ache of stuffed satisfaction. There is no worry of what will come for now, I am eating sushi.

Nike Pro Combat: The Complete Collection

So you may know that I am a big sports fan. You may also know that I am into fashion. This combination is perfect for me:

Starting Saturday, Nov. 14 (and appearing throughout the month), 10 very special college football teams will get to fill Oregon’s shoes as a canvas for Nike Interns as they take the field wearing the “futuristic” Nike Pro Combat uniforms.

Though I still think that Oregon has the best uniforms/uniform combinations, I really like the new designs and it's nice to see some other schools getting some love. I appreciate the fact that Nike is taking a simple, almost historic approach to the uniforms, while adding newer trends and design styles. They are pretty freaking ridiculous... ridiculously awesome!

Glorious Hats

I have accumulated many hats throughout the years and they have become such fantastic accessories (and disguises) to my many rough days.

Theres just something so comforting about a hat. When I'm having a bad hair day,or just don't want to deal with the hassles of fixing it, the dependable hat is always there. OR when my forehead becomes too much for my concealer to diminish, the hat does the trick.

It seems that hats have transcended throughout the last years and we are no longer confined to the ball cap or beanie style. Theres now a plethora of options; fedoras, top hats, cowboy hats, boaters, berets,bucket hat,flat cap,etc.. All bringing diversity and style to our once boring outfits.

I love this time of year: the leaves start to change color, there is a bite in the air and there isn't a single better time to be a sports fan!

you've got the NFL and NCAA football season in full gear, basketball pre season is underway and finally, after a long (i mean long) hot summer of baseball, it's playoff time!

so far, there hasn't been a nail biter of a series in the playoffs, but I'm sure the AL and NLCS should be much more entertaining. In the american league, we've got the angels playing everyone's least favorite team, the Yankees. The NL will have the Dodgers playing the winner of Colorado and Phili. I'm personally torn since I have to root for the Rockies (being that i grew up watching games at Mile High) but I'll be in Philadelphia next week and would like to see a game. Oh well... i guess it's kind of a win-win for me.

on another note:

While some say that the Broncos AFL throwback uniforms were among the worst ever, I'd have to disagree. You can't complain about the uniforms if they beat the AFC favorites, New England Patriots. (whose throwbacks i like much more than the Disney captain EO space commander look-a-like uni's they normally sport).

Ive been doing yoga a couple times a week and have heard how amazing this "heated yoga" is. I was unable to find anything in Orem, or even UC, so made the drive to Sandy yesterday(anyone know of something closer!?). Im in love. I seriously didn't know my body was capable of sweating so much, pretty disgusting really but Ive never felt better!

Hot yoga is also known as "Birkam Yoga," named after its inventor. It looks horrifying, but it's really just(ha!) 90 minutes of yoga that's done in studios heated to 105 degrees and 40% humidity, you might feel like your going to pass out the first 30 minutes but the instructor says this is normal..?

*Tip-show up 15 minutes early to allow your body to become acclimated to the heat-drink lots of water.

The idea is, you stretch, and you breathe, and you sweat, and somewhere in there you burn 900 calories and grow in wisdom and stillness. I really do feel so different physically and mentally. I would really encourage anyone who wants to try something more challenging to do this. If you like pushing yourself this is for you!

You need towels because your so sweaty.

When I was at this class people were raving about this stuff so Im gunna go ahead and try it out, sounds really yum. I guess it rehydrates your body more than water? We shall see. -They sell it at Whole foods.

I absolutely love this store just wish I could afford it.. the story of my life :).
Maybe Christmas! They have the cutest clothes, accessories, and bags. AND free Yoga classes on Saturday. Too bad I found this out the week of leaving Cali, dangit. I believe they have one in SL though.

They have all these really cute/inspiring quotes on the water bottles and some bags they sell, I could use some words of encouragement a lot of days.

I know, i sounds like a yoga freak and kind of am this week. Who knows how long it will last. :)

well i've given it my all and i guess my all just isn't good enough. i mean, come on, isn't P90X supposed to make me ripped. sure it's only been 4 weeks and maybe i haven't been totally faithful to tony's nutrition plan but i demand results. so that's why i am leaving my body sculpting up to science! don't worry mom, it's nothing illegal and no michelle, it won't make me less of a man. these chemicals are totally legal (duh, i bought them on the internet...how could they not be legal if they are sold online?...) and i'm not going to be just laying on the couch eating cheeze-its waiting to get ripped. i'll be working out just as hard as ivan drago did in rocky IV...minus the injections...plus whatever it is that i have from the interweb. hopefully the results will be the same.

This past Saturday my Aunt Janea suffered 3 seizures and after being admitted to the hospital and undergoing some tests they found 7 masses in her brain that are cancerous. We are doing a special fast on her behalf this Thursday and would love for everyone to keep her in your prayers. I know the lord is mindful of our prayers and can cause miracles to happen.

so this is one of my new favorite shows. it's kind of a combination between between biggest loser and dancing with the stars but i really like it for it's comedic, chris farley trying out for chip-n-dales sketch, appeal.

My favorite was ruben with his jazz hands and leg kicks. it also doesn't hurt that he is wearing a fish-net, see through vest while doing it. good for this hefty humans for shamelessly shaking their bums on TV in order to lose pounds and take their 15 minutes of fame! kudos.

so i've been playing a bit of golf lately and i have to admit, i'm addicted. yesterday, feeling inspired by the US Open, i played with a group of friends in our weekly "bizzle's blackout bout" which consists of different challenges in golf games (scrambles, best ball, match play, etc.) and business/personal networking (of course). unfortunately for me, i played so horribly that it was embarrassing! i mean, i couldn't even finish out most of my holes because i was over the limit on strokes! awful! i now understand why they call it a handicap, because that's exactly how this game makes me feel...sometimes.

I would be lying if I said I was having a terrible time in Cali, but I do miss Joshua a ton, walking on the beach alone just isn't the same! I know Joshua is staying busy and I have been crazy busy myself, which is good, I think if I were sitting at the grandmas house all day I would go insane. So the objective has been to keep myself as busy as possible.. Along with my internship in SD I got a part-time job at Banana Republic which has been pretty fun thus far but keeping me super busy/tired.

well, we are coming up on week three of the san diego experience. whenever i tell most people that my wife and i are living apart for the summer, a common reactions is..."what?...are you serious!? wow, that sucks" and i have to agree. as i was telling one of my friends today, "it's kind of like cutting off your left hand. it's always been there for as long as you can remember. even though you may be right hand dominant, the left one is there to balance things out and make the everyday tasks possible. sure you can get along with out your left hand, but you'll always know that something is missing."

there is no way in HECK that i could have made it 3 consecutive weeks, 21 whole days, without seeing my lovely wife! we had a little family get together in PHX this past weekend. we were able to stay at the lovely hyatt in scottsdale, az with the entire Bergeson clan. Michelle and the girls got some spa time in and the boys played (or attempted to play) some golf. it was all fun but the best part was just being with my wifey!

Just to keep everyone who actually reads this blog (as obscure and insignificant as it may be) informed, Michelle and I are separated for the summer. She is in San Diego doing an internship and I am alone in Utah. We'll try to sign the bottom so there's no confusion about which post is being written by whom. Forgive us in advance if there are a lot of "I miss him/her"'s or "it's so hard"'s, etc.

Sometimes I feel like this boy -- lonely, sitting on the curb under the light of a street lamp. Really the only difference between us two is the fact that I'm not asian...and nothing else.

The first week is gone and already I am bored of being alone. Daytime-not so bad. I've got clients to talk to and noises keeping me company. Night - BLAH! I come home to an empty house and sit in front of the TV/clean/walk around in circles.

I am really happy for Michelle and hope that she learns everything to be successful in her career as a TV personality but going 3 months without her is going to be tough. Thank goodness for SKYPE so I can kind of talk to her face to face.

Im officially on my own here in San Diego, for some reason I didn't think the separation would be too bad with a couple trips planned in between. Especially since Im living in one of the most coveted places, it's absolutely beautiful just not quite the same without having someone to enjoy it with. Joshua went back to Utah yesterday and its already really hard, this might be a long 3 months.. On the bright side, we get to see each other in 10 days(and counting!)from now for my grandparents 50th anniversary and staying with the fam in Scottsdale!

I met with Channel 4 SanDiego(internship) today and am really excited about the experience and connections that I will be able to build from being here.We do everything for the San Diego Padres-Chargers and the network is located in the building directly behind center-field..pretty sweet! The location is amazing too! Although, the traffic and travel to the city from Carlsbad might get annoying real quick.

never before have i seen such a misunderstood generation as the florescent wearing wanna be's at the hammer and ice concert featuring MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice. A flash back to the early 90's, when hip hop was either hard core GANGSTA or bubble gummy. Utah kids took this as an opportunity to dress up as their favorite miami vice characters (wrong end of the decade guys) or worse, girls wore side pony tales and madonna "like a virgin" gloves. I was personally offended due to the fact that most of those in attendance, though may have listened to Hammer or Vanilla back in the day, didn't reflect the true hip hop culture of the time...I lived it. MC Hammer was the first cassette tape that i ever purchased with my own money. (it was a double purchase of Hammer and Milli Vanilli). My sister Nicole yelled at me because, when I would sing "you can't touch this" I wouldn't edit the first line and she said i was taking the lord's name in vain...i didn't know. i was just working on my vocal and dance skills...

I guess I shouldn't feel too badly about it. Some showed up with home-made hammer pants and gecko printed coats.

I typically despise the snow only because I'm not good at any snow sports, so it really serves me no purpose besides causing me to freeze and forcing me to scrape my windows every morning. Snow=misery.

I had a shoot up in Alta for the KUHL clothing line a couple weeks ago and wasn't looking forward to having to shoot when I looked out my window and found the lovely snow covering my car. Nonetheless, I called Holly, the wardrobe lady, for the directions and we met up at Little Cottonwood.

We made our way up to Alta and I was so happy and relieved when we walked out of the Suzuki and found the Sun reflecting off the snow, I actually had to take off my jacket it was so warm!

After picking out the clothing I would wear she gave me my snowshoes, my favorite past time activity, and then had us wander around for a good shooting location. The photographer decided the best spot would be a 200 ft. climb to the top of the next bench, at a straight incline. Serious? Where is the ski lift and do we get paid extra for the extra unspecified work?

Anyways, we made the climb up with much huffing and puffing.. and when reaching the top the view was absolutely beautiful. It made it worth the trek and once we got up there it was so much fun!

There obviously wasn't a dressing room so we were completely subjected to being one with nature. While making the next wardrobe change a family decided to go on a lovely nature walk with there 3 boys, not fully expecting to be introduced to a stranded girl in her bra and panties in the middle of the walk way. Pretty hysterical seeing the mom franticly trying to hide her sons from the show...

It's been open for two weeks and I am already a frequent buyer of the 'cookies&cream' and 'strawberry shortcake' cupcake, they are AMAZING! They are as pretty as they are delicious too! so as of late, this is what has been going on in the life of michelle and joshua.

joshua passed his test and is now licensed to sell life, accident and health insurance. he is also in the process of designing the business cards for the insurance brokerage, Guardian. (ask him about their low rates...ha!)
I tried the insurance thing a couple of years ago...trying to follow in the footsteps of Father Dan, but alas, it was not for me. now i am trying to pay the bills while i build my clientele with coldwell banker commercial real estate.

michelle has been loving the fact that she is back in school and hating the fact that she has to now reunite with her arch nemesis, Final Cut Pro...!!! On top of that, she has been working behind the bar at the new hip Provo hangout, Spark

I know so many claim to hate Texans because of there egotistical and prideful ways.. but can you really blame us? It really is just the best place to live for several reasons. Always remember what our great governor Sam Houston once said:

1- You never have to wake up to a foot of snow piled on your car/shovel snow/scrape ice off windshield/worry about your death while driving/freeze in your car to only find that the heat has finally kicked in when you've made it to school... oh i could go on.

The past couple months I have been culminating supplies, tanning solutions, and information in order to start up an airbrush tanning company. It's been really hard staying focused with going to school full time but I've committed to making this work this next year. If anything, I have loved using it on myself and being able to have a nice "goldenglow"(haha i had to do it..)during the winter months. I'm really excited for the SLC Bridal Show that I will be a vendor for this weekend, I think we will be able to generate a lot of business here! I was so excited to be able to get a short break from the cold for a couple days and escape to San Diego, CA. We flew down on the 28th to attend Grant and Janvier's wedding at the San Diego temple followed by a reception later than night, it was such a blast! The weather that day couldnt have been more perfect and the reception that was held at Janviers house was gorgeous.

This time of the year is by far my favorite! Not just because of the gifts that are received, but more importantly, the laughter and spirit that radiates in others. I love this quote given by President Monson in "The Best Christmas Ever."

Ever since Josh and I watched 'Never Back Down' I secretly wanted to be in an underground fight club.. maybe a little hardcore for me? Well, there is this new gym in town called "Throwdown, " I drive by it everyday and am constantly tempted to take the turn but was always a little intimidated. A couple days I took the plunge and walked in for a tour. The atmosphere was pretty intense but it looked and sounded like it was an amazing way to work out. They have this huge "state of the art" Martial arts arena in the middle of the center, a really nice pilates/yoga studio with all the pilates equipment, cardio machines with TV's, an altitude chamber(if you've never heard of one its really cool!)..... But I love how the gym is solely centered around the classes that they offer every hour throughout the day because my workouts become so boring and mundane. They offer really different and fun class too; Thai boxing, Brazilian Jui Jitzu, Vinyasa yoga, Renegade bootcamps(etc...) and then the regulars like pilates, cycling.. Anyways, theres my advertising for Throwdown! If you live around here and want to mix things up, I recommend it! : )

so this is what's been going on lately...

Michelle had a birthday for which I made the most amazing birthday french toast out of kneaders super chunky cinnamon bread and strawberries and whipped cream. the party continued later that day as i threw some enchiladas on the table! I'm awesome!

My wife was spoiled as she received a new yoga mat, shoes and more shoes on her birthday. That was from me and then her mother outdid me by giving her a plethora of her favorite clothes including a coat that looks like a parachute.

Other than that, i don't have anything to show for my life. jk. i do but not in blog form. sorry.

it's election time! i know that i've been MIA as far as the blog is concerned. i've been busy trying to make some money in real estate with a recession and an election where there is a possibility that, if Obama is elected, the entire country could go to shambles economically.

i wanted to contribute somehow to the McCain Palin ticket and since there has been a mix up in my voting registration, this is the best i can come up with so far.

i also hung these all over my office on the doors of people who are leaning to the left due to infarctions in the brain (at least that's the only explaination for their lack of judgement that makes any sense to me!)

1-SPOON ME !! Its so delicious and light and you dont feel like you gained 10 lb. after like you do after eating Cold Stone.

2-GREYS ANATOMY Joshua and I have been buying the DVDs for each season, so we are always a season behind whats on TV but we love not having to wait through commercials!

3-FRENCH TOAST I dont know why? I have never been big on breakfast but I seriously come home atleast 3 times a week craving french toast for lunch.

4- TWILIGHT I have been so into these books lately I finished all three 600+ pg. books within about a week. I decided to distance myself from the book and haven't bought the 4th yet but am really tempted for a late birthday present...

5-CYCLING This is seriously the best workout you will ever get and it kicks your butt.. I always feel like im going to throw up about half way through but its so much fun!? Really it is.. you need to take a class if you get the chance!

6-DIET CHERRY LIMEADE W/ GRAPE Soo yummy!

7- T.I. I am not usually into "gangster" kind of music(lol!) but I love doing cardio to his recent tunes!

8- HAZELNUT HOT CHOCO. I have been waiting for it to get a little bit cooler just so I can make myself hot chocolate. It was 60 degrees most early mornings this past week so I decided it was ok. Although, it was nearing 90 by afternoon, Im ready for the seasons to change!

We had fun celebrating together with friends and family. Joshuas parents took us out to Cheesecake Factory for dinner the night before and we stuffed our face with lots of food and amazing desserts! I have to admit that I definitely won the best dessert for the night.. Chocolate coconut cream cheesecake, yes. amazing. Next time your there, I recommend it! The next day we planned a dinner with lots of friends at a little mexican joint, Joe Banditos. After we went to Spoon Me for an environmental friendly dessert.. did you know the spoons are made out of potato? They don't taste good... don't try. Anyways, we had a great time and im so lucky to have a wonderful husband. Love you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLD MAN! ; )

Dont Forget Your Blankets!

Joshua had the brilliant idea to go camping a couple weekends ago and was hoping to surprise me. I hate surprises! So when he came home and started packing my clothes into a bag and loading the car with camping gear I knew he had something up his sleeve. Meanwhile, I had a research paper due in my English class in a couple days that I hadn't even started.. so a surprise was the last thing that I wanted. After much kicking and screaming I went, and it ended up being a lot of fun with our beloved friends the Pendletons! Although, there were a couple bumps in the road along the way... it was worth the laughs that we are able to share now.
With my stubbornness, I gave all the planning and packing to Joshua(never let the guys do the packing!) and he loaded our car up with the entire 2 bags and 2 blankets. I knew we had problems when we went to pick up Lance and Jen and there WHOLE car was filled with gear. We headed up the Canyon and pitched Lance and Jens tent, we didn't think of needing a place to sleep..? We heated up next to the fire and made yummy peach cobble, freaking amazing. Once again thanks to the Pendletons! After reading stories from my obsession, Twilight, we headed to the tent for an attempt of sleeping. It didnt happen.. Lance and Jen came prepared with thermal sleeping bags, while we on the other side had 2 tiny blankets! Let me inform you it was 30 degrees that night, I know, what were we thinking?! Well, I was looking up at the sky(shivering) the entire night waiting for the sun to come out. Anyways.. come to find out not one of us got 2 minutes of sleep and was waiting for the other to say they wanted to leave. We held out till about 6:30 and decided nature defeated us... but we will return!

Joshua and I spent the past few months living with his parents in good ol' Pleasant Grove. Most of our days consisted of sitting on the couch watching FitTv, stalking on facebook, and taking bike rides to the grocery store for G2 grape gatorade. I know we were such bums, pathetic really. Anyways, we decided to add a little variety in our lives and went for a hike up Waterfall Canyon. Amy G was down for the weekend and was of course up for the adventure! It was a lot of fun.. even though my clumsy self ended up with a couple scrapes and bruises from falling on the way down, so predictable

Well, its been awhile since we uploaded pictures from our camera and I had to update about our girls trip to NYC. It was such blast! My mom, little sister, sister in-law and I all scheduled a trip to go to the big apple in July with a big group of woman and daughters from my home town in Friendswood so it ended up being about 15 of us girls.. pretty chaotic! We tried to get as much into those few days we were there but planning a trip to the city always seems to be overwhelming , there is so much to see and do that its virtually impossible to include every NYC activity in a single trip. We stayed in the beautiful W Hotel in Times Square which made everything very accessible, especially the broadway shows that were conveniently across the street. Well, I could go on about everything we did but im tired of typing.. so here is the pictures to do that talking!

Michelle and I just got back from a rafting adventure outside of Jackson, WY. For Michelle, it was her first experience of the foaming white rapids. The frigid water was as high as it has ever been which made the rapids wash out with the exception of Lunch Counter, which was higher than usual.

Well I found the second thing that I love about the state of TX (the first being my wife, Michelle)...BLUE BELLE ICE CREAM. Actually the ice cream is good but what I really love is the Blue Belle Factory. Here they give you 2 scoops of ice cream, so fresh you can smell the cows, for only a dollar! I know! And they have all these classic flavors and some new fun ones that you can sample all day long.

Don't think I'm converted or anything...afterall, the factory is out in the middle of nowhere, Brenham, TX. So it's not enough to get me to say that I like TX as a whole but I am finding a few things here and there.

Oh, and just so you know, the stars at night AREN'T big and bright...in fact, I don't even think you can see the stars from Michelle's house....Take that!

just when i thought i said all i can say...i'm writing this blog to announce my official fanhood. Go Jazz...I can't believe that I am saying that but they've come a long way from the boring, short shorts, fade-away shots, finals losing and crying about it 15 yrs later days of "Stockton to Malone"! I am really into the playoff games this year which is odd since I've never been a fan. But I wouldn't be here without Brent talking my ear off at the gym everyday about D Wills fade or Boozers favorite color or Brandon with his "i have more money than you and thus, am a better person" seats. Also thanks to the penguin who, through his example (former example) has made Las Vegas a lot more fun for me now!

Really I suppose it all started when the Jazz beat the Rockets in the first round...again... for the 3rd straight year. Anyone who beats up on TX is good with me!

Kobe, stop crying...you're good.

CHILDREN AT PLAY

In the last month we have completely indulged in the life of being lazy. After Joshua's graduation we had to pack up and move away from Provo .. so we have pretty much been homeless since lol. We stayed with his parents for about a week and then drove up to Vegas and stayed in my sister in-law Nicole's beautiful home for a couple days; went shopping, worked out at the awesome recreation center, ate good food. My brother, his fiance, and her brother came up that same weekend to stay with her family so we got together at ESPN Zone, watched the game, then ended the night at the arcade. Oh, and you have to watch the video its so funnny! We are now in Cali with his aunt Sandy.. The hard life.

GRADUATION 08'!

Joshua decided he was too cool to walk for his graduation so.. we just went to dinner at Flemings with his family! Anyways, we are very proud of his dedication in finishing, even though it's taken 8 years! lol better late than never. Oh and this past weekend Joshua's "workout buddy," Brent, invited us to go with him and his lovely friend to the Jazz vs. Rockets playoff game.. it was so much fun! Although, I was secretly cheering for my hometown team, but was too scared to outwardly cheer for them because we happened to get stuck right in front of the biggest Jazz fans in Utah!

New Beginnings..

Joshua is now officially done with school and we are so excited to find where life takes us this year! We have been super busy this past week packing and enjoying the company of our friends. We have been truly blessed to have such fun and supportive people in our life since being here in Provo! So.. we still have no idea where Joshua is going to get a job so we are planning to do a bit of traveling.. a trip to California to stay with Aunt Sandy and back home to TEXAS! Joshua is dying to go to Europe for a couple of weeks but I don't think that is going to workout right now on our tight budget.. maybe next year! : ) Although it does kinda stink not having any stability its kinda of exciting!

Michelle lived her dream for a day with the Joshua Barrett Make A Wish Foundation. We had the chance to go up to SLC and see a news cast. Michelle was able to sit behind the anchor desk and read the news along with current anchor Katie Baker.

I was just along for the support but they thought that my boyish good looks could not be kept behind the scenes so they put me on with my wife. The first husband and wife team to steal the show since Regis and Kathy.
